Used CompareMyVets last week and ended up switching from our old practice (where Bella's annual check + boosters was £180) to a new one just 2 miles further away — total £125. Not only cheaper, but the new vet is brilliant. She actually got down on the floor with Bella and had treats ready. Bella, who normally trembles at the door of the old place, was wagging her tail by the end. Moral of the story: don't assume your current vet is the best fit. It pays to compare!

After 4 years of warfare, I'm starting to think Whiskers might actually be winning. Today's incident: I started vacuuming the lounge, she gave me THE LOOK from the windowsill, and proceeded to knock my entire mug of tea off the side table. While I cleaned up, she casually walked over to the vacuum and stared it down for a solid minute. Then she went back to her sunny spot like nothing happened. I've ordered one of those quieter robot vacuums. We'll see if she tolerates a smaller adversary.

Took Bella to Camber Sands today and she absolutely LOVED it! At first she wasn't sure about the waves — kept doing this little hop-back when they came in. But after about 10 minutes, she was zooming up and down the sand, chasing seagulls (unsuccessfully, thank goodness). We spent about 3 hours there. She's now passed out on the sofa, completely shattered. Best part? We made a friend — a lovely Spaniel called Marvin who Bella played fetch with for ages. Beach essentials list for next time: more towels, doggy water bottle, ball thrower, and definitely a longer lead for the cliff path.
